For those of you who know me, I am not a fan of open carry. I believe a more reserved approach to introducing people to the need for gun rights allows for open dialog without immediately putting others on the defensive. I also believe it’s the best policy for personal safety to be stealthy, the “grey-man”, the person who goes un-noticed in a crowd. Better to reduce the odds the you might be “elected”. Open carry also give the anti-gun folks an opportunity to criticize and to persist in their efforts to create a perception that gun owners are “crazy”. Owning a gun incurs a certain level of responsibility required when handling or storing them. It is many more times important to be responsible with firearms when children are in the home. While I do not agree with most (if not all) of what Moms in Action or Everytown I do believe that gun owners need to have the type of character that takes personal responsibility and will take appropriate measures to safely store guns. Everytown, Moms explore ways to prevent accidental shootings involving children.
