Got Ammo?   There has been plenty of speculation about why there has been an ammunition shortage. Some want to blame the government, but the reality is that there are a number of factors that have contributed to it. We have all been affected by it, less training, less recreation, and lighter wallets.

Back in 2009 when we were experiencing the first shortage, I spoke with a couple gentlemen that work for a local small arms ammunition company to explain their take on the situation. They confirmed the lack of a conspiracy. Firstly, the orders by the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies was part of the normal procurement cycle. Secondly, the reluctance of the industry as a whole to invest millions in increased production capacity was due to having been through a similar shortage in the 1990s where they ended up losing millions after the demand dried up.

The following article by Danielle Kurtzleben provides a thorough examination of all the factors that have contributed to the shortage. Click on the link: The ammunition shortage is a real thing. Here’s why it happened.
